This Privacy Policy explains how MyDonorFamily processes personal data when you use our website and services.
MyDonorFamily is the data controller for the personal data described in this Privacy Policy.
We process personal data in accordance with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (“GDPR”) and applicable Danish data protection law.
2. When we process your personal data
We process personal data in the following situations:
- when you create and use a MyDonorFamily account
- when you purchase or use a Premium Membership
- when you use donor groups, chat or other platform features
- when you visit our website
- when you contact us
- when you report content or behaviour, or when we investigate suspected misuse of the Service
3. Types of personal data we process
3.1 Account and profile data
When you create an account, we may process:
- username
- password
- email address
- country of residence
- postal or zip code
- phone number
- profile photo, if you choose to upload one
- whether you are a donor offspring or a parent with donor child/children
- gender and birth year, or the gender and birth year of your donor child/children where relevant
- sperm bank, egg bank or clinic
- donor name and/or donor number
3.2 Usage and technical data
We may process:
- login time and date
- IP address
- browser and device-related information
- activity on the Service
- log data relating to access, security and operation of the platform

If you use group or messaging features, we may process:
- messages
- chat content
- photos
- profile photos
other content you choose to upload or share
3.4 Payment data
If you purchase Premium Membership, payment information is processed by our payment provider. We may receive limited payment-related information necessary to manage your subscription, payments and renewals.
3.5 Communications and reports
If you contact us or report content or behaviour, we may process:
- your contact details
- the content of your enquiry or report
- related correspondence
- information relevant to reviewing and resolving the matter
4. Why we process your personal data and our legal basis
4.1 To provide the Service
We process your personal data to:
- create and manage your account
- place you in the relevant donor group
- allow you to use Basic or Premium features
- display relevant profile and group information
- provide chat, messages, notifications and donor relation features
- manage subscriptions, billing, renewals and cancellations
Legal basis: processing necessary for the performance of a contract.
4.2 To operate, protect and improve the Service
We process personal data to:
- maintain platform security
- prevent abuse, fraud and technical misuse
- troubleshoot and improve platform performance
- document, enforce and defend our rights
- protect donor anonymity and the privacy of users
- review reports and investigate suspected breaches of our Terms or Code of Conduct
- verify donor-group placement and maintain the integrity of donor-group access
Legal basis: our legitimate interests in operating a safe and reliable platform, enforcing our rules, protecting users and donor anonymity, and defending legal claims. In some cases, processing may also be necessary to comply with legal obligations.
4.3 Sensitive information you choose to share
Because MyDonorFamily is a donor-related platform, content shared by users may sometimes include personal information of a sensitive nature.
We ask users only to share information they are comfortable sharing and are entitled to share.
Where you voluntarily upload or send sensitive personal data through the Service, we process such data only as necessary to provide the Service, based on your use of the platform and, where required, your consent.
5. What other members can see
Information you share within the Service may be visible to other members in your relevant donor group, depending on your membership type and use of the platform.
Basic Membership
Other members in your donor group may be able to see limited profile-related information such as:
- whether you are a donor offspring or donor parent
- country of residence
- approximate location based on postal or zip code
- gender and birth year, where relevant
- last login date or activity indicators
Premium Membership
Other eligible members in your donor group may be able to see, in addition:
- your messages
- your uploaded photos
- your profile photo
- donor-related content you choose to upload
- other content shared within the group or relevant chat functions
MyDonorFamily does not actively publish your real identity to other users unless you choose to reveal it through your username, profile, messages, photos or other content.
6. Moderation, safety and review of content
MyDonorFamily does not routinely read private messages for general monitoring purposes.
However, we may review uploaded content, reports and, where reasonably necessary, messages or related information in order to:
- investigate reported abuse or suspected violations
- protect user safety
- protect donor anonymity
- verify that members have been placed in the correct donor group based on the donor information provided during registration
- comply with legal obligations
- enforce our Terms and Code of Conduct
- respond to legal claims or requests from authorities where required by law
7. Cookies and website data
When you visit our website, we may process technical and usage-related data such as IP address, browser information and access logs.

8. Who we share personal data with
We may share personal data with:
- payment service providers
- hosting and website providers
IT support, backup and software providers
- professional advisers where necessary
- public authorities, courts or law enforcement where required by law or necessary for legal claims
We require our processors and service providers to process personal data only on our instructions and with appropriate safeguards.
If personal data is transferred outside the EU/EEA, we will use appropriate transfer safeguards as required by law.

We keep personal data only for as long as necessary for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy.
As a general rule:
- account and membership data are kept while your account is active
- payment and subscription-related information is kept for as long as necessary for accounting, documentation and legal obligations
- messages, photos and other content remain available until deleted by you, removed by us under our rules, or until your account is deleted, subject to limited retention where necessary
- reports, moderation-related records and security logs may be kept for as long as necessary to investigate incidents, document decisions, protect the Service, or establish, exercise or defend legal claims
- ordinary contact enquiries are kept for as long as reasonably necessary to handle the matter
If your Premium Membership ends, your account may continue as a Basic Membership unless you delete your account. In that case, some information already shared within your donor group may remain visible in accordance with the structure of the Service, unless deleted or removed.
We may retain limited information for a longer period where required by law, for security purposes, or in connection with complaints, disputes or legal claims.
10. Your rights
Subject to applicable law, you may have the right to:
- access your personal data
- have inaccurate data corrected
- request deletion of your data
- request restriction of processing
- object to certain processing
- receive your data in a portable format where applicable
- withdraw consent, where processing is based on consent
Some rights only apply in certain situations. We will assess each request in accordance with applicable data protection law.
